Il Trono del Gusto comes to Porto Tolle: three days of street food in the Delta del Po

From Friday 11 to Sunday 13 September 2026 the Piazza Ciceruacchio car park hosts the 88th stop of the International Street Food festival, with the Rai 2 cameras filming the docu-reality "Il Trono del Gusto" (The Throne of Taste). We are a few steps away.

For one weekend Porto Tolle becomes one of Italy's street food capitals. In the heart of Ca' Tiepolo, the village centre, the festival brings its 88th stop of the tenth season: a travelling event created by Alfredo Orofino, president of the Italian association of street food chefs, staged here together with Confartigianato Polesine and the Pro Loco of Porto Tolle, under the patronage of the municipality.

What makes the Delta del Po (the Po river delta) edition special is national television: the crew of "Il Trono del Gusto", produced by RG Factory, will film in Porto Tolle for one of the programme's forthcoming Saturday-morning episodes. A rare chance to see our village, and our landscape, told on national TV.

Programme and opening times

The official opening is on Friday 11 September at 5 p.m., with the stalls open until midnight. On Saturday and Sunday the festival runs all day with kitchens from across Italy and around the world: regional specialities, international dishes, craft beers. Entry is free — you pay only for what you taste.

Street food is the new addition to the 2026 Fiera del Delta, the village fair now in its 63rd year, which fills Porto Tolle over two weekends (4-6 and 11-14 September). During the street food weekend the programme in Largo Europa is busy: on Friday 11 at 6 p.m. "Vini per le rime", a poetry walk with themed wine tasting at the library garden, and at 9.30 p.m. Marianna Lanteri's "4Ever Young" dance party show; on Saturday 12 at 9.30 p.m. Radio Company with the "Mixatone", followed at 11.30 p.m. by the 5,000-euro tombola (postponed to Sunday in bad weather); on Sunday 13 at 9.30 p.m. OI&B, a Zucchero tribute band.

Throughout the fair: a painting exhibition by the Artisti del Delta at the tourist office in Piazza Ciceruacchio, local makers, craftspeople and producers in the square, and a funfair in Piazza Mercato (with reduced ride prices on Monday 14, children's day).

After the street food, the fish of the Delta

Three days of cooking from around the world are the perfect moment to discover the local kitchen too. Ristò Italia sits in the centre of Ca' Tiepolo, a few minutes on foot from the festival area: the right place for lunch overlooking the celebrations, or for an evening of Delta seafood after the tasting in the square. The menu holds the dishes that tell this territory: Cozza di Scardovari DOP (the PDO mussel of the Scardovari lagoon) in a light tomato broth, troccoli pasta with mussels, clams and bibarase, risotto alla pescatora (fisherman's risotto), and grilled sea bream, prawns and scallops. From the wood oven, seafood pizzas such as the Back-e-ton with salt cod and tuna.

Where to sleep in Porto Tolle for the festival weekend

To enjoy the festival without thinking about the car, Albergo Italia is the easiest choice: a three-star hotel in the centre of Porto Tolle, air-conditioned rooms, private parking and direct access to the Delta cycle routes. For families or groups, Alloggi Centrale offers independent rooms and apartments a few steps away. For the weekend of 11-13 September it is worth booking early: the fair and the street food draw visitors from across the province and from Emilia.

What else to do in Porto Tolle

Anyone staying on for Sunday has the Delta on the doorstep: boat trips towards the mouth of the Po di Pila and the Sacca degli Scardovari lagoon, cycle routes on the levees between fishing lagoons and rice fields, and the wild beach of Barricata. September is the best month: mild temperatures, low light and the first migrating birds.
