Sul Delta, pedalando per il dono: Sunday 27 September, 20 km by bike between Porto Tolle and the Sacca degli Scardovari
On Sunday 27 September 2026, the Po Delta becomes the route for a simple message: donating organs and tissues saves lives. Twenty kilometres by bicycle, between the fishing valleys and the water of the Sacca degli Scardovari, to talk about it together.
A ride for D-Day, the regional donation day
"Sul Delta, pedalando per il dono" is part of D-Day – Donation Day, the day on which Regione del Veneto promotes the culture of organ and tissue donation and transplantation. It is promoted by Coordinamento Regionale per i Trapianti del Veneto (CRT Veneto), with Fondazione Banca degli Occhi del Veneto, Fondazione Banca dei Tessuti del Veneto, AIDO Regione Veneto and ADMO Veneto. It is not a race and there are no rankings: it is a relaxed ride for families and for people who only cycle on Sundays, with one clear purpose. To bring the subject of donation into the Delta too, told by the people who live it.
Locally, the day is organised together with Abita srl, Consorzio Delta Pool Service, Consorzio Cooperative Pescatori del Polesine di Scardovari, Aqua and Titoli Minori. To talk about it, we chose to ride close to the water, through places where people work every day, and then to stop and listen.

The route is about 20 km, flat, along levees and roads around the Sacca. Registration also included the small refreshment and, for anyone who needed one, bicycle rental, either muscular bike or e-bike.
The heart of the day: testimonies
The most important stop is at midday at Centro Ittico Bonello, on the Sacca degli Scardovari. After the authorities' greeting, the floor goes to people who have received a transplant, relatives of donors and professionals from the transplant network. Their stories show what is really behind a choice many people postpone: a signature and a conversation with family can change another person's life.
Registration is closed, the message remains
Registration for the ride closed on 21 September. Thank you to everyone who chose to be there. The meaning of the day, however, is for everyone, including those who will not be in the saddle on Sunday.
How to state your choice on donation
In Italy, every adult can state their consent, or their refusal, to organ and tissue donation. The three simplest ways are:
- At the Comune, when applying for or renewing an identity card: simply tell the registry office.
- At the ULSS, at the dedicated desks of the local health authority.
- With AIDO, Associazione Italiana per la Donazione di Organi, tessuti e cellule, by completing the handwritten declaration.
For bone marrow donation, ADMO supports anyone who wants to join the register. In every case, the most important thing remains talking about it with your family, so that your choice is known and respected.

Cycling in the Sacca, even after the 27th
The Sacca degli Scardovari by bicycle is one of the Delta's most beautiful rides. The route can be repeated in every season, with morning light on the cavane and the fishermen's nets.
