Birdwatching in the Delta del Po: the complete guide

Wetlands and fishing lagoons of the Delta del Po at sunrise, ideal for birdwatching

The Delta del Po (the Po river delta) is one of Europe's birdwatching paradises, with more than 300 recorded species including greater flamingos, herons, black-winged stilts and the emblematic woodcock.

The richest reserves are only minutes from Albergo Italia: the Sacca di Scardovari lagoon, the traditional fishing lagoons and the levee paths along the river all offer excellent vantage points at dawn and at dusk.

We recommend binoculars, neutral-coloured clothing and a guided boat trip, so you can get close to the wildlife without disturbing it.
